Oxidation

Paraxylene is reacted with air in the presence of a catalyst and Acetic Acid solvent to form Crude Terephthalic Acid (CTA).

CTA is dissolved in water and subjected to hydrogenation to remove impurities (like 4-CBA), ensuring high purity levels.
